Jonathan Savage and Carleton V. Ltd. Collaboration

Legendary textile design firm Carlton V Ltd. has joined forces with Jonathan Savage to collaborate on a new collection of wallpaper. The collaboration is the result of years of working closely together on different design projects around the U.S.  Savage was on the hunt for unique pattern that was contemporary but with a historical context, and Sebastian, son and current owner of Carlton V Ltd., suggested reintroducing a retired Dorothy Draper design, “Shatter”, from the 1940s.  The result is nothing short of brilliant.

“I have been working with Sebastian Varney, the president of Carlton V Ltd., since beginning my career in design.  After identifying this design in the Dorothy Draper archive with him, I was honored to start this collaboration with such a renowned firm.  My design inspiration for the color combinations came from nature — rich golds and reds found in fall leaves, warm browns and blacks from the smoothest of granites, and soothing blues seen in the glassy the waters of Capri.”

“We found the Dorothy Draper fabric in our archives and it was timely with Jonathan’s work which is contemporary and fresh.  It’s his look and we knew it was him”, said Sebastian Varney.
